  • Overview

    The (Sr) Business Application Consultant is responsible for analysing users’ requirements and translating them into an application design that can be successfully executed as a development project.

    As part of the Stolt Tankers Business Applications Team you will play a role in the development of Business Applications for the Stolt Tankers Division.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist end-users with requirement specifications and/or development of specialized reporting;
    • Responsible for application project processes including:

        • Develops application designs and specifications based on business input
        • Assists on identification and evaluation of packaged software that may satisfy a business requirement
        • Communicates with development and Services team to ensure technical design and application conforms to specifications and standards
        • Documents new design as well as updates technical and functional documentation of existing applications as applicable.
        • Regularly and accurately reports progress and issues
        • Prepares and executes system test plans
        • Prepares application training documents and provides application training where appropriate
      Performs post-implementation evaluation of projects in order to define improvements to the analysis process
    • Annual financial audit support as required;
    • Proposes technical solutions within the scope of own expertise which fully takes into account the needs of all those who will come into contact with the operational products.
    • May manage the project process for medium to large size projects (up to 12 months, < USD 1,000,000);
    • Effective stakeholder management by building and maintaining internal and external stakeholders in support of the above;

    Qualifications

    • Educated to degree level or holds a professional qualification;
    • At least 10 years of progressively responsible software development experience;
      • Able to demonstrate thorough understanding of .NET development
      • Proven track record in software development
      • Able to demonstrate good understanding of the processes involved in software development
      • Experience with and/or exposure to OutSystems development is an advantage.
    • Able to demonstrate experience in testing software
    • Experience with development techniques and methodology or certified in a relevant aspect of the system development process; Experience with Agile development (Scrum) is a pre.
    • Solid understanding of database design and maintenance up to the level of Junior DBA (Database design, performance design, scripts for data manipulation)
    • Broad experience of Business applications, e.g. ERP and/or Financials; Understands business system architecture and the relationship of applications one to another
    • Familiarity with Veson Nautical software (IMOS/Veslink/VIP) and BassNet is an advantage.
    • Familiarity with application including word processing, spreadsheets, database query, presentation tools, MS Project, Visio.
    • Experienced to operate within a demanding business organization with potential conflicting views
    • Ability and willingness to travel at a moderate level;
    • Project Management experience (optional);
    • Fluent in English;
