    A
    s a Buyer you take part in the execution of the operational purchasing process for an assigned group of Stolt Tankers vessels. Together with your colleagues you manage the complete procurement process, from receipt of the requisition until the actual on-board delivery of the requested consumables, spare parts, or service.

    In this position you will have the opportunity to be part of our global Purchasing department with operational buyers working in offices in Rotterdam, Houston and Singapore.

    You will be part of our team which is centralized and located in the Rotterdam office.

    Responsibilities

    • You execute all operational and initial purchasing requests coming from your assigned group of ships.
    • Prepare bid summaries, create a bid list of potential suppliers and take part in the negotiation during the buying process.
    • You cooperate with other ship-owning departments (Logistics, Finance & Administration, Fleet Management, etc) to continuously improve the integration of purchasing and logistic processes.
    • Develop and maintain a professional business relationship with ship’s crew and superintendents.
    • You participate in improvement projects delegated by your Purchasing Manager.
    • Follow up on the delivery of purchase orders and take action when needed

    Qualifications

    • Since you will be working in a maritime environment, we prefer our buyers to have a basic technical knowledge.
    • You hold a bachelor’s degree combined with a minimum of 2 years of working experience in a purchasing position.
    • Experience in purchasing on operational level, preferably you hold a Nevi 1 certificate.
    • Due to our international working environment and the need to interact with various internal and external stakeholders, you have a good cultural awareness and communication skills in English and Dutch.
    • Advanced level in Excel and preferably experience with purchasing software
