  • Overview

    Stolt Tank Containers (STC) is looking to take on board the Global Manager-Vendor Management who will be responsible to further manage & develop the company’s global vendor strategy. The position will be based in either Rotterdam, NL or Singapore and is part of the STC Management Team.

    The role requires a strong ability to work and negotiate in the world of containerized logistics. We are looking for a creative and strategic thinker with excellent communication skills. Conscious of culture and able to manage a team in multiple regions.

    You will be expected to manage relationships at senior decision-making level with key global vendors and oversee major contract negotiations. Work closely together with the MT to support profitable growth. Share your vision and provide relevant global market intelligence. Collaborate with and provide guidance to different functions in the business.

    Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities are, but not limited to:

     

    • Establish and maintain a global vendor strategy with regional directors to support profitable growth.
    • Manage STC's supply chain capabilities available to our customers. Create the quickest, lowest costs, high quality supply chain for our customers in every region. 
    • Facilitate a reporting process to senior management of vendor spend, vendor performance and STC's operational performance.
    • Manage/ oversee all major tender negotiations and ensuing contracts. Monitor STC's actual allocation of business to vendors relative to tender agreements.
    • Manage STC's vendor management policies and procedures. Identify the need for and outline supporting management systems. Develop the global structure and staff to support STC's vendor relationship management needs.
    • Provide guidance and support to operations, commercial and SHEQ departments to ensure quality and service requirements are measured and met.

     

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • University degree is preferred. Alternatively approx. 10 years Global Containerized Freight experience.
    • Purchasing or supply chain management certification is considered a plus.

     

    Experience:

    • At least 5 years global supply chain experience and ocean freight knowledge
    • Proven track-record in global tender management and contract negotiation
    • Experience in chemical and containerized freight logistics

     

    Specific skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with strong negotiation ability
    • Ability to be diplomatic and maintain a neutral approach in contentious situations
    • Aware of culture and able to manage a dispersend, global team, share his/her vision, get buy-in and execute strategies
    • Global and geographic awareness of logistic routes
