Planning and Projects within Stolt Tankers is responsible for strategy development, aligning the organization with the strategic direction set and providing it with the business intelligence and information it requires.


Tasks, among others, we undertake are strategic planning, fleet planning, business analysis, ship sale and purchase, newbuilding analysis, and providing high-level business support to the Tanker management team.


Business Optimization is a key priority for which we focus on creating insight into cargo margins and operational costs but also look at how our structure and processes are geared towards delivering maximum value.


The Global Business Optimization Manager is primary responsible for:


  • Further developing and implementing Business Optimization within Stolt Tankers on a global scale
  • Translating the business strategy into optimization goals and targets together with the business
  • Building on our ERP’s capability to deliver detailed insight into utilization, margins and costs
  • Maximizing value generated from existing decision support applications
  • Mapping key value adding processes and ensuring optimal configuration of organizational structure and processes
  • Implementing and institutionalization of data supported decision making
  • Continued monitoring of progress and tracking benefit realization and delivery against intended results
  • Discovering and deploying best practices, insights and learning's from within the company, the Group or the industry
  • Managing and supporting the process of collection and prioritization of innovative ideasIn support of the other responsibilities of the Department the Global Business Optimization Manager will also be involved with:


In support of the other responsibilities of the Department the Global Business Optimization Manager will also be involved with:

  • Providing strategic guidance and support to internal stakeholders on the creation, activation and scaling of high potential solutions and strategic partnerships
  • Evaluating and developing business cases for proposed ship transactions and other capital transactions
  • Performing business analyses (standard and ad-hoc), including general industry competitors and macroeconomics research/ analysis
  • Preparation of material for the SNL Board meetings and Tanker Management Committee meetings



  • University and/or Master’s degree in General Management or Business Administration
  • A degree or certification in Six Sigma is an advantage


  • Broad knowledge of lean management and transformation processes
  • Optimization experience within the Shipping Industry
  • At least 5 years of experience in a middle management role or business process management experience
  • Previous experience managing operational or structural change within an organization
  • Knowledge of change management principles and proven ability to support and motivate staff
  • Experience with performance management, measurements and reporting in a business context
  • Experience with data analysis in a business contextSpecific Skills

  • A strong written and verbal communication skill in English, having the same ability in Dutch is an advantage
