Overview

The Business Application Consultant will focus on the applications used by the Tanker Trading department and the users of those applications. That translates into high end support to a mature user base, testing new releases of software and assisting business analysts in the design and development of new software and reporting.

Responsibilities

  1. Initiate and stimulate business & application improvements both from a business perspective as well as an application perspective;
  2. Develops process and/or application designs and specifications based on business input;
  3. Assists on identification and evaluation of packaged software that may satisfy a business requirement;
  4. Documents new design as well as updates technical and functional documentation of existing applications as applicable;
  5. Solves issues together with the service team and ensures communication towards the Business
  6. Prepares and executes system test plans
  7. Prepares application training documents and provides application training where appropriate

Qualifications

Education

  • Educated to degree level or holds a professional qualification
  •  

Experience

  • At least 3 years of progressively software development experience:
    • Able to demonstrate thorough understanding of .NET development
    • Proven track record in software development
    • Able to demonstrate good understanding of the processes involved in software development
  • Able to demonstrate report writing skills (preferably Business Objects / Crystal Reports / PowerBI)
  • Able to demonstrate experience in testing software
  • Solid understanding of database design and maintenance up to the level of Junior DBA
    • Database design
    • Performance design
    • Scripts for data manipulation
  • Broad experience of Business applications, e.g. ERP and/or Financials
  • Understands business system architecture and the relationship of applications one to another
  • Familiarity with applications including Microsoft Office tools, MS Sharepoint, MS Project, Visio. Experience of Office365 is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Veson Nautical software (IMOS/Veslink) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of software deployment methodologies (Client server/Citrix/RDS) is preferred.

 

Specific Skills

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • A strong written and oral communication skill in English, a second language is a plus;
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language, strong customer service orientation;
